This production of Pippin took the medieval concept of the original production, and reimagined it with the hyper-theatricality and spectacle from the revival, provided in part by real fire and magic in this production. The lighting design drew from extreme saturation, and focused on building an angular, visually impactful environment built literally, through beams in haze, extreme angles, and an animated practical upstage smoke cyc, on top of a world based in darkness.
